“An Introduction to Pediatric Palliative Care and The Decision Making Tool: An Ethical Framework” was presented by Dr. Ross Hays on June 2nd, 2016.
Dr. Hays is the Medical Director of the Palliative Care Consulting Services as well as the Associate Director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Hays is board certified in Pediatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is also a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners.
Among many other responsibilities, Dr. Hays chairs of the Hospital Ethics Committee as well as a task force regarding the Washington State Death with Dignity Act. Dr. Hays is also an assistant professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington where he has been on staff since 1984.
Dr. Hays received both his Undergraduate and Medical Degrees from the University of Washington. His extensive postdoctoral training included internship, residency, clinical fellowship, and certification programs at Boston University, Brown University, Tufts University, and University of Washington Schools of Medicine.
Dr. Hays has been instrumental in shaping the specialty area of palliative medicine. His involvement is vast in national and international professional organizations and he is heavily involved in research. Dr. Hays is well published in his field and speaks often on the topic.
