What defines best practice? Best practice is the process of seeking out the best available research and utilizing that research for evidence based clinical decision making. It takes into account clinical expertise and consensus as well as the patient, family values and circumstances.
What drives best practice helps to shape how it will be defined; as stated by the global view point of the World Health Organization… “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition”. Preamble to the Constitution of the World Health Organization
As clinicians it is important to hear what we deem as best practice and our challenges to getting there. The attached survey is the first step to understanding what areas or programs are important to us and how we deliver these programs to our community.
The IPRC has an opportunity to improve the process for communicating best practice and innovation in the area of pediatric rehabilitation; the first step is listening to you.
Please take the opportunity to participate in our survey to share your ideas of what areas are important to you that you would like to see defined as best practice. Results of the survey will be posted on the IPRC website in the near future along with next steps on how to define best practice.
