Rehab administrators answer questions regarding kangaroo care chairs. IPRC archives information collected by the Pediatric Rehab Administrator’s ListServ as a public service to the entire Pediatric Rehabilitation Community. All information is posted in summary format and has been de-identified. Search through past queries for responses to rehabilitation related questions.

Original Question: What chairs/recliners are used at your organization to promote skin-to-skin/kangaroo care.

Summary of Responses

ORG A: No specialty chairs/recliners in the rooms.  The NICCU has two recliners that can be pulled in as needed.  Otherwise, therapists and nursing work with parents to use existing chairs or beds/couches, using pillows to promote any positional support.

ORG B: Rooms have rocker/recliners that are used.  No specialty chairs.

ORG C: Annina glider/recliners by Office Environments. Feedback is that they wished the wheels were better.

ORG D: Standard recliner with a foot rest and pillows.  No specialty chairs.
