US Congress Reconvenes this Week – Contact your Legislators
IPRC, working alongside Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) and Speak Now For Kids, urges all US Citizens to contact their Congressional representatives and urge them to Secure Long-Term Funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and make children’s health care a priority in 2018. On December 21st, the US Congress authorized a short term resolution funding CHIP only through March of 2018, leaving the program in limbo.
CHIP is a federal-state partnership that, along with Medicaid, has resulted in the highest children’s health insurance coverage rate on record. It provides medical care for low-income children and pregnant women in working families who make too much to qualify for Medicaid, but not enough to afford private health insurance. If Congress doesn’t extend this important health insurance program, millions of kids may lose their health coverage this year.
Speak Now For Kids has created an easy tool to Contact your Representatives and make your voice heard. Urge Congress to Secure Long-Term Funding for CHIP.
